The Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry (IALD) will host  a one-of-a-kind educational experience at the 7th Annual LANAP Study Club on Friday, September 8th! Learn important techniques from experts in the LANAP® & LAPIP™ protocols and increase your operatory efficiency and clinical outcomes, while maintaining a high standard for patient care. Enjoy world-class food and cocktails at the beautiful Boston Marriott Long Wharf in Boston, MA, while networking with other fellow LANAP clinicians.

Hurry — space is limited, and early bird registration ends August 25th.

Important Note: This meeting is open to all LANAP clinicians and earns 8 hours of CE credit.

Come join LANAP clinicians and renowned speakers for the following learning sessions:

Keynote Speaker: Garrett E. Reisman, PhD, former NASA Astronaut & SpaceX Director of Crew Operations

Soaring to new heights, the 7th Annual LANAP Study Club welcomes Astronaut Garrett E. Reisman, PhD as the keynote speaker. A NASA veteran who flew on all three Space Shuttles, Dr. Reisman will give you an insider’s view into the past, present, and future of space travel and the innovators who are leading the way.

Dr. Reisman was selected by NASA as a mission specialist astronaut in 1998. His first mission was aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour which dropped him off for a 95-day stay aboard the International Space Station. His second mission was aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis. During these missions, Dr. Reisman performed 3 spacewalks, operated the Space Station Robotic Arm and was a flight engineer aboard the Space Shuttle.

Currently Director of Space Operations for SpaceX, Dr. Reisman has played a pivotal role in readying the SpaceX Dragon Spacecraft to transport people into space.

Regeneration a Reality with the LANAP Protocol: Raymond A. Yukna, DMD, MS

Periodontal procedures utilizing lasers are increasingly used for treatment of periodontitis and peri-implantitis. The LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure) protocol, using the PerioLase® MVP-7™ Nd:YAG laser, for periodontal pocket treatment will be described. Clinical examples and human histologic evidence of true periodontal regeneration as cleared by the FDA will be presented.

Implant Failures and Peri-Implantitis: Jon B. Suzuki, DDS, PhD, MBA

This seminar will highlight the increasing problems facing dental clinicians in the era of Implantology. Implant complications, failures, and Peri-Implantitis are major clinical issues impacting on patient care and treatment planning.

Local and Systemic etiologies are identified for Per-Implantitis and selected Implant Failures.  Clinical approaches for implant rescue continue to be evaluated and will be presented, including applications of lasers.

Successful Treatment of Peri-Implantitis with the LAPIP Protocol: Gary Schwarz, DDS, MSD & David Harris, PhD

Various treatment alternatives for peri-implantitis exist, but there is no consensus on which provides the optimum outcome.  No study in the literature reports a success rate above 70%.  This retrospective study examined the clinical outcomes of 138 patients (264 implants) with peri-implantitis treated with the LAPIP protocol.  A success rate (pockets ≤ 4 mm and substantial improvement in clinical signs of bleeding on probing, suppuration, and erythema) of 90% was achieved.  The LAPIP protocol provided consistently effective and predictable outcomes.

The Unbearable “Light”-Ness of Being… (Healed) Light, Lasers and a Novel Approach to Wound Healing: Neal Lehrman, DDS, MS

TBA

Increasing Your PerioLase Procedure Repertoire: Allen S. Honigman, DDS

The PerioLase MVP-7 was originally developed to treat periodontal disease via the LANAP procedure. In recent years it has been shown be very beneficial for the treatment of peri-implantitis via LAPIP.  However, due the unique properties of the Nd-YAG wavelength and ability for the user to be able to fine tune its’ settings, such as pulse duration and power,  it allows it to be utilized in  a myriad of other procedures that  are routinely  done in the periodontal and general dental office. Some the procedures may seem obvious and some, not so apparent.  This session will address the expanded utilities for your office!

Case Prognosis, LANAP & Esthetic Dental Implant Outcomes –  What Our Patients Are Asking For!: Robert Levine, DDS, FCPP, FISPPS

TBA

Expert Panel – Live Q&A: Raymond A. Yukna, DMD, MS • Allen S. Honigman, DDS, MS • Charles Braga, DMD, MMSc Robert A. Levine, DDS, FCPP, FISPPS • Jon B. Suzuki, DDS, PhD, MBA

In this open forum expert panel, attendees will be able to ask all of their burning questions about the LANAP protocol, LAPIP protocol and the PerioLase MVP-7. Come ask your own or hear others and gain insight from some of the leading LANAP clinicians in the industry.
