Millennium Dental Technologies Signs Renewal Agreement With Seattle Study Club to Continue Strong Collaboration

CERRITOS, CA–(Marketwire – Mar 29, 2012) – Millennium Dental Technologies and the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry (IALD) announce the renewal of their partnership with the Seattle Study Club (SSC) after an extremely productive three years. Millennium Dental Technologies, the developer of the FDA-cleared LANAP® protocol for the treatment of moderate to severe gum disease and the manufacturer of the PerioLase® MVP-7™ digital dental laser, has flourished within the relationship, which has inspired a growing number of SSC members to become practicing LANAP clinicians and furthered the acceptance of the important breakthrough in laser gum-disease treatment. Notably, after growing impressed with the clinical results and the science behind the LANAP protocol, the esteemed founder of the SSC, Michael Cohen, DDS, MSD, adopted the LANAP protocol into his practice and completed all five of the IALD’s rigorous training evolutions.

“Millennium Dental Technologies has built its reputation on product quality, comprehensive, meticulous training methods and excellence in customer service,” says Dr. Cohen. “The company has done a fantastic job of developing the tools and procedures to effectively treat gum disease, and have dedicated the last few decades to validating the science with research.”

MDT and the IALD have worked closely with the SSC for the past three years, helping the organization develop a strong curriculum and sharing important advancements in laser periodontal therapies with its members. The organizations have participated in club events across the country and led comprehensive treatment planning sessions to instruct SSC members about the PerioLase MVP-7, the LANAP protocol, and the latest techniques in laser dentistry, periodontal treatment and additional applications of the dental laser.

“Within the renewed partnership, we gain continued access to the SSC’s extensive global membership with the ability to educate them on how to make the best use of the LANAP protocol and other treatment applications of the PerioLase MVP-7,” says Dawn M. Bloore, DDS, vice president of operations Millennium Dental Technologies and executive vice president and training director at the IALD. “SSC members are dedicated to the advancement of team treatment planning and total case management as the ultimate tool for achieving ideal comprehensive care. Education about the LANAP protocol allows them to raise their standards of periodontal care and simultaneously increase awareness and acceptance of the gentle and effective laser surgical procedure.”

“It’s been a mutually beneficial endeavor to engage dentists worldwide in a significant dialogue about the LANAP protocol as a unique, regenerative and patient friendly procedure to treat the global epidemic of periodontal disease,” says MDT president and co-founder Robert H. Gregg II, DDS, a practicing dentist and co-developer of the LANAP protocol for the treatment of gum disease. “Continued collaboration with such a prestigious community of dentists and educators will help reach patients across the globe.”

The IALD works in association with MDT, manufacturer of the PerioLase MVP-7 dental laser — the only device approved to perform the LANAP technique, the first and only protocol to receive FDA clearance for periodontal treatment.

ABOUT THE SEATTLE STUDY CLUB (SSC): Based in Kirkland, Washington, the 8,000-member SSC is among the most advanced dental education groups in the world and comprises more than 250 specialists across the United States, Canada and Australia who lead their own affiliated study clubs as directors. The group is dedicated to maintaining the highest level of knowledge in dentistry and shares new techniques, technology and means to better serve patients. Each club examines cases, works to find answers, and collaborates to arrive at best practices and solutions. The group case analysis and peer-to-peer education has strongly contributed to the science that supports LANAP treatment.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED LASER DENTISTRY (IALD): The Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry is a non-profit educational and research center dedicated to providing evidence-based clinical training in advanced laser dentistry therapies. Formed in 1999 by dentists Robert H. Gregg II and Delwin K. McCarthy, the IALD is both ADA CERP and AGD PACE accredited, and is nationally recognized for its continuing education (CE) programs. With more than 20 certified instructors who train dental professionals in laser dentistry techniques including the LANAP® protocol, the IALD aims to reach more underserved patients with gum disease who have avoided therapy out of fear. To that end, the organization provides free treatment to qualified patients who can benefit from the no-cut, no-sew, no-fear LANAP® protocol-providing about $750,000 in free dental services each year. The IALD’s ultimate goal is for the percentage of patients seeking treatment for periodontitis to reach the percentage of patients seeking general dental care.
